As an immigrant, an introvert, and a woman in the male-dominant world, I often feel I don't fit into society. I wrote this song to encourage people to have faith in themselves, focus on their journey, and navigate their own way to success. It's only a matter of time until we get to wherever we want to be. I describe Dominoes as the social game, it's the smart tactical game that people play but I choose to play it the fun way by lining up the tiles and watch them collapse.

Dominoes celebrates everyone who feels lost in this time of mass confusion. The song is an anthem for people who are full of self-doubt and uncertainty. It calls for people to embrace their struggles and enjoy the journey to their unique destinations.

Garden of Eden

"Kim takes you on an evocative journey with this new track. It's tangled up in some pain and a yearning for solace - though the moody piano waves and plucking make for a soothing backing to Kim's vocal." - Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J unearthed -

"Breathe taking; I felt like Kim had grabbed me by the hand and carried me through an amazing secret garden. There is a stillness in this much like walking through a forest, aware of how small we are in comparison to nature. It's humbling. Kim Yang is a force of nature, and she humbles me." - Nkechi Anele, Triple J

Kim Yang at Old Canberra Inn

 —  —

Old Canberra Inn, 195 Mouat St, Lyneham ACT 2602

Taiwanese-Australian singer-songwriter Kim Yang is back in Old Canberra Inn to play you some heartwarming, soothing and happy/sad original songs and her rendition of classic tunes. Come and buy Kim a pint of beer and sing some songs with her! Make sure you book a table in advance!

Inspired by female vocalists like Sarah McLachlan, Kina Grannis, First Aid Kit, and Eva Cassidy, Kim’s music is an eclectic blend of folk, pop and blues. Her songs speak from her experiences as a partner, a daughter, a traveller and an insecure soul. With Kim's ethereal blend of sounds, she creates music that balances delicately between vulnerability and power.

Most recently Kim played festival gigs at the National Folk Festival, Enlighten Festival, and Floriade, and released her debut EP Ocean of Mind in May 2019, she then went on tour in major Australian cities after a sold-out EP launch show. She was meant to perform at the National Folk Festival 2020, but the festival was cancelled last-minute due to the pandemic.

Besides her solo project, Kim has also lent her voice to various musicians/groups such as Michael Misa, Muddy Wolfe, and Iboga Gazebo. Her original tune with Muddy Wolfe band Life of a Working Man was aired on Triple J radio during the first week of its release. Her latest single Garden of Eden (2020) and the DIY music video about her Australian black summer experience have been well-received by the public, this song has been aired on Triple J Roots n' All ever since.

Live in Ya Lounge Facebook and YouTube Channel

Live In Ya Lounge was created as a means for artists to deliver the live concert experience direct into people's homes, giving the community a small piece of the normal we are used to. We may not be able to go to the pub and listen to local bands or go to see big acts that have come to town but we can bring it into your lounge room. But this isn’t just an artist at home with a smartphone streaming online. Live In Ya Lounge is a virtual concert - it’s a full production with professional audio and lighting, delivering the next best thing to attending in person. We hope that Live in Ya Lounge gives a little to improve people’s everyday lives and experience a little of what life used to be like before COVID-19.

The first week of CTC @ HOME programming begins on Monday with Kids in the House, a song and dance program featuring local children’s show The Joe Boogie Show. This will be followed by Chapter the First, a live reading of the first chapter of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel on class, wealth, and decay, The Great Gatsby read by local playwright and performer Christopher Samuel Carroll.

Wednesday 17 June features a special performance by local musician Kim Yang, playing her ethereal brand of soothing folk, pop, and blues, and Roll for Intelligence with Joel Barcham, a performative role-playing game featuring live musical accompaniment.

The first week finishes with a bang, with CTC@Home headline program The World From Here with Chris Endrey.
