Old Canberra Inn, 195 Mouat St, Lyneham ACT 2602

Taiwanese-Australian singer-songwriter Kim Yang is back in Old Canberra Inn to play you some heartwarming, soothing and happy/sad original songs and her rendition of classic tunes. Come and buy Kim a pint of beer and sing some songs with her! Make sure you book a table in advance!

Inspired by female vocalists like Sarah McLachlan, Kina Grannis, First Aid Kit, and Eva Cassidy, Kim’s music is an eclectic blend of folk, pop and blues. Her songs speak from her experiences as a partner, a daughter, a traveller and an insecure soul. With Kim's ethereal blend of sounds, she creates music that balances delicately between vulnerability and power.

Most recently Kim played festival gigs at the National Folk Festival, Enlighten Festival, and Floriade, and released her debut EP Ocean of Mind in May 2019, she then went on tour in major Australian cities after a sold-out EP launch show. She was meant to perform at the National Folk Festival 2020, but the festival was cancelled last-minute due to the pandemic.

Besides her solo project, Kim has also lent her voice to various musicians/groups such as Michael Misa, Muddy Wolfe, and Iboga Gazebo. Her original tune with Muddy Wolfe band Life of a Working Man was aired on Triple J radio during the first week of its release. Her latest single Garden of Eden (2020) and the DIY music video about her Australian black summer experience have been well-received by the public, this song has been aired on Triple J Roots n' All ever since.
