Acoustic singer-songwriter Kim Yang is launching her debut EP 'Ocean of Mind' on Saturday 11 May from 6:30pm. Produced by Guyy Lilleymann at Amberly Studios, this EP features three melodious and emotional tracks about love, hope, and loss.

Inspired by female vocalists like Sarah McLachlan, Kina Grannis, First Aid Kit, and Eva Cassidy, and comfortable on both her guitar and 8-string ukulele, Kim is able to easily switch between genres and instruments to adopt the mood of her audience.

Originally from Taipei, Kim has been sharing her melodious and warm voice in the streets and cafes of Canberra since 2016. As a late bloomer in music, Kim realised there were so many stories from her life that needed to be shared. In 2017, she started writing songs that speak from her lived experiences as a young adult, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a friend and an insecure soul, with a mixed genre of Folk, Pop, Blues and Jazz.

Joining Kim at the EP launch is the very special Canberra based singer-songwriter Grim Tilla. Grim Tilla’s musical passions are deep-rooted and wide-ranging. He started playing guitar in his early teens, immersing himself in the endless possibilities that opened up with the heady world of jazz. Over the last 20 years, his influences have expanded to encompass a range of genres, perhaps none more so than Saharan desert blues. He has worked as a touring musician, bandleader, and producer, but more recently has found himself exploring the stripped back sound of the singer-songwriter tradition.

This will be an intimate evening with some home-baked goods, wine and drinks. Come celebrate with Kim for this special occasion xoxo
